SAN DIEGO -- A new product can permanently erase your wrinkles, 10News reported.

Product Makes Wrinkles Disappear Forever

It's called Artecoll; an injectable micro-implant made from bovine collagen that surrounds your body's own collagen, providing a mass to fill in wrinkles permanently.

WHAT IS A WRINKLE? As skin ages, it loses its elasticity. Collagen and elastin, the tissues that keep the skin supple, weaken. The skin becomes thinner and loses fat, so it looks less plump and smooth. While all these changes are taking place, gravity is also at work, pulling at the skin, causing it to sag. In deep facial folds or wrinkles, the thickness of the skin is diminished to approximately one third of the surrounding skin.

Artecoll has been on the market in Europe, Canada and Mexico and has had a huge success rate, according to 10News.

U.S. clinical trials of Artecoll started in August 1999.

Joanne Murphy and Diana Torres took part in a clinical trial in San Diego more than two years ago.

"I think it's a wonderful, wonderful discovery," Murphy said.

Murphy and Torres said they both saw immediate results and have yet to see their lines reappear since their first injection of Artecoll.

Plastic surgeon Dr. Steven Cohen said Artecoll is better than collagen because it does not fade away and it can outdo Botox in smoothing out wrinkles in some areas.

"The results in nasal labia fold area -- which has long been a difficult area to treat -- are better than any product I have seen available. So, it's very effective," Cohen said.

Cohen said that the results are instant and only get better with time.

"We've observed at one month after the injections and the results are not as good as they were 3, 6 and 12 months after the injection," Cohen said.

Murphy and Torres said it's an easy way to iron out the years.

"I love it. I can't wait until it gets approved," Torres said.

Artecoll to set for final approval Friday by the Food and Drug Administration.

According to 10News, Artecoll is twice the cost of collagen. Prices range from $600 up to $3,000.
