SAN DIEGO -- A San Diego company is taking the bottled water market by storm with claims of dramatic health benefits. Can it really improve your health?
Four years ago, Bill Holloway, (pictured right), filled bottles of Penta Hydrate by hand. Today, his plant in Sorrento Valley fills 150 bottles a minute and Penta is now the No. 1-selling water in health food stores nationwide, 10News reported.
"San Diego water comes in, goes through multimedia filtration, carbon filtration, microfiltration, reverse osmosis, deionization, two stages of ultraviolet light treatment ... then it's clean," Holloway said. But Penta Hydrate is more than clean. According to Holloway and the General Physics Institute, Penta is an entirely new structure of water. Using a patented process, Holloway says the water is broken down at the molecular level, making it in effect "thinner water.""What it means is it's water that goes into the cell more rapidly," Holloway said.Athletes looking for an "edge" have been Penta's biggest fans but a number of recent studies show the structurally altered water may also help in the healing process, 10News reported. After being diagnosed with advanced stage melanoma last year, Masha Tankovich, (pictured left), endured grueling interferon treatments that made her miserable.
Tankovich drank several bottles of Penta a day and says her energy returned and swelling from lymphodema went down. But she did not really appreciate the water's benefits until she stopped drinking it."That's when you realize what it does to you ... when you're out ,,, not when you have it," she said.Despite encouraging study results, Holloway is quick to point out Penta is not some miracle potion."It's the cell that's magic. Water doesn't cure anything ... just dehydration. But when you cure that dehydration, it's amazing the recuperative power of the body ... what the cells can do when they're functioning normally," Holloway said. Some in the scientific community remain skeptical about the idea of molecularly altered water. But others in the medical community are looking at several university studies which show the water may act as a "trigger" for antioxidant enzymes in the body and as a possible delivery system for certain medications. To purchase Penta water either visit one of the San Diego retailers listed below, click here to find a store in your area or purchase it online. The Water Lady
