SAN DIEGO -- Couples from around San Diego will tie the knot Saturday on what is said to be the luckiest day of the year -- 7-7-07."The date 7-7-07 is a very popular date because the numbers are supposed to be lucky and many celebrities are getting married on this date," said Gregory Smith, San Diego County assessor/recorder/clerk.
"We've seen an increase in the number of calls we've received about getting married on that day," Smith said.David's Bridal, the largest U.S. retailer of wedding gowns, estimates that 65,000-70,000 weddings will take place across the country Saturday, double the number normally held.Weddings will be held at the clerk's Kearny Mesa office at 9225 Clairemont Mesa Blvd. from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.No blood tests or appointments are required and the cost is $50 for a marriage license and another $50 for the ceremony. The entire process should take about 30 minutes.
