CONWAY, Ark. -- A San Diego man allegedly killed a 13-year-old girl with whom he had struck up a relationship on the Internet, then turned the gun on himself during a SWAT operation in Arkansas, 10News reported.
The girl was reported missing from her home in Holland, Ark., north of Little Rock on Tuesday.
The bodies of the Kacie Woody (pictured, left) and (David) Fuller (pictured, right), (47,) were found at a storage garage in the town of Conway, Ark., according to 10News.
Investigators searching for Fuller Wednesday at his rented storage garage heard a shot coming from inside his van, police said. SWAT officers tried unsuccessfully for two hours to get Fuller out of the van. The officers then stormed the van where they found the bodies of Fuller and Woody.Authorities said that Fuller had struck up an Internet relationship with the girl some weeks ago. "We don't believe Kacie invited him to come to Arkansas or knew he was coming," said Deputy Jack Pike, spokesman for the Faulkner County Sheriff's Department. "We believe she was abducted from her home. We found her eyeglasses broken and a chair out of place," Pike told the San Diego Union-Tribune. Kacie's brother last saw her at their home Tuesday evening and later determined she was missing. Their father called police when he could not find her. Pike said that the search for Kacie intensified after Fuller was identified as a suspect in her abduction. Late Wednesday afternoon, investigators found Fuller's name on a storage unit rental agreement in Conway about 15 miles from Holland. Pike said that officers weren't expecting to find Fuller at the garage. Pike also noted that it wasn't clear how long Woody had been dead.
