Dahmer Action Figures Are Hot Items

Victims' Families Think Creator Is 'Sick'

MILWAUKEE -- Jeffrey Dahmer is a man who almost nobody misses.

And after 10 years, the families of Dahmer's victims wish they'd never have to hear about him again.

But Spectre Studios, a Colorado company operating on the Internet, doesn't seem to care much about that.

Jeffrey Dahmer Action Figure"I am profiteering off the fame of these killers," action figure creator David Johnson said.

Johnson said he couldn't make a living with conventional sculpture, so he's created a hand-painted line of serial killer action figures.

Dahmer's action figure costs $24.99.

"I lost my job after Sept. 11 you know, and I'm generating a living doing my art. Unfortunately, it's using this hook," Johnson said.

John Wayne Gacy, Pogo the Clown figureBesides the Dahmer piece, Johnson sells Ed Gein, who killed women in Central Wisconsin, Ted Bundy, even John Wayne Gacy dressed as Pogo the clown (pictured right).

"You know, it's a collectors item," Johnson said.

The only thing Johnson apologizes for is the long delivery time. His work is that popular.

Milwaukee attorney Tom Jacobson worked for the victims' families. He failed to stop similar efforts in the past.

"Our theory there is that the victims shouldn't be used for people to make a profit, and we couldn't win those cases in federal court or state court," Jacobson said.

Jacobson and the families think the fascination with such an evil man is sick.

"Because it makes them revisit the whole thing, and they want it to go away," Jacobson said.

But there are no signs that it will go away.

The items are so popular that Johnson had to raise the prices to slow down demand, and the Dahmer action figure is Spectre Studios' most popular item.

Johnson plans on adding Jack the Ripper and Lizzie Borden to his serial killer action figure line.
